Dear Parents,
Thank
you so much for bringing your children to scouts on April 12, 2012. I always
love seeing the boys, and hearing why they love coming to the Scout meetings.
They are all really special in their own way!
We
completed quite a few things this week, which should make you proud of your
boys.
For the Webelos
We completed the Citizen Pin
requirements: 14, 17
For Bears and Webelos
We completed Religious Knot: 1, 2, 3
The religious knot
information is not available in your scouting book, but may be found in your
child’s Faith in God book which they received when they turned 8 years of age.
If you don’t have one, or you need a replacement book, please contact your
Primary leaders.
I will write out the 7
requirements down below, so that you may all know what your sons have done and
what they should be doing. The Religious Knot is something that should be
worked on, and achieved at home. However, we have many boys who are in need of
some help, and we have provided some assistance, and we ask now that the
parents go the extra mile and provide some more assistance.
I would encourage you to
ask your child to bear their testimony, to you or your family. These innocent
boys have wonderful Testimonies and lots of questions that you may be able to
answer.
Religious Knot:
1. Give a family home evening lesson on
Joseph's Smith First Vision (see Joseph Smith- History 1:1-20). Discuss how
Heavenly Father answers our sincere prayers
2. Give an opening and a closing prayer
in family home evening or at Primary. Share your feelings about how prayer
protects us and helps us to stay close to Heavenly Father and the Savior.
3. Tell a story from the Book of Mormon
that teaches about faith in Jesus Christ. Share your testimony of the Savior.
4. Prepare a pedigree chart with your
name and your parents' and grandparents' names. Prepare a family group record
for your family and share a family story. Discuss how performing temple work
blesses families.
5. Write a letter to a teacher, your parents, or
your grandparents telling them what you appreciate and respect about them.
6. Help your Primary leaders plan and
carry out an upcoming quaterly activity.
7. Write a story, poem, or short play
that teaches a principle of the gospel or is about Heavenly Father's creations.
